Massachusetts Man Reports Squirrel Attack

Now there's something you don't hear every day.

A squirrel (not this one) reportedly attacked a Swampscott man on Tuesday.
A squirrel (not this one) reportedly attacked a Swampscott man on Tuesday.
A Swampscott man found himself in an unusual situation Tuesday night and called police for help when a local squirrel went on the offensive.

As detailed in tonight's police log, at 7:55 p.m., a Magnolia Road man called police to report that he needed "help right away, a squirrel is attacking him."

The man told police he was stuck outside and trying to fend off the angry rodent with a broom.

The dispatcher reportedly advised the man to get inside if he could do so safely.

The local animal control officer was notified and the squirrel was later trapped in a box at a nearby house.

No word on who was brave enough to open it.

Have you ever heard of a squirrel attacking someone?

He was trying to get up his pant leg. He figured he'd eat one now and save one for later !

A squirrel once jumped on my leg in Harvard Yard. Clearly accustomed to being fed by those who pass through, he jumped off as quickly as he/she jumped on -- probably as he realized that either I was not a giant nut (of his kind) or that I had nothing to give him. Slightly startling but amusing experience.
