Man in Police Standoff Held Without Bail
Florenzo Lecce did not want to come into the court room this afternoon for his arraignment. Bail was argued in his absence.
A Swampscott man involved in an early morning standoff with police Wednesday was ordered held without bail pending an evaluation.
The order came down Wednesday afternoon at Lynn District Court.

Florenzo Lecce, 19, 317 Paradise Road, Swampscott was to be hospitalized in Worcester and scheduled to return to the court on Feb. 5, said Lecce's lawyer and Judge Ellen Flately.
Lecce's bail hearing was held in his absence after he declined to appear in the court room.

On Feb. 5, the court will determine if the defendant is competent for arraignment. The prosecution, led by Andrew Boyd, reserved the right to be heard at a future dangerousness hearing and at Lecce's arraignment.
On Wednesday, a doctor told Judge Flatley that he had concerns about Lecce being competent to appear at his arraignment on Wednesday.

Lecce is charged with disorderly conduct, assault with a dangerous weapon —to wit, a handgun — possession of a knife, and threats to commit a crime.
Early Wednesday, Lecce had a silver gun, later found to be a toy, tucked in his belt in the Swampscott Police Station parking lot.
Police had drawn their weapons and taken cover as they initiated conversation with the man.
He tapped the gun and, at point, asked what would happen if he took out the gun.
Police were able to subdue the man and toss the gun to the side.
