A police call for a loud party turned into a chase with a semi-automatic weapon falling from the suspect to the ground early Saturday on Burrill Street.

A police call for a loud party in the early morning hours Saturday resulted in a man fleeing after dropping 45-caliber semi automatic handgun to the ground.

Police were dispatched to 211 Burrill St for a report of a loud party on Saturday at 12:16 a.m., said Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy.

When Officer Brendan Reen and Sgt Jonathan Locke arrived, several men were outside the house.

A handgun fell from the suspect to the ground during the chase and Sgt. Locke grabbed it, police said.

Inside the house were about 60 people. The lights were down and partygoers were dancing.

Officers searched the house and it appeared that the man had jumped from a second-floor window and fled, police said.

Officer Steve Luck and Matt MacDonald responded to the scene, assisted by Lynn police patrol officers and members of the city’s gang unit, as well as officers from the Marblehead and Nahant Police Departments.

Lynn police officers identified several men at the party as having ties to Lynn’s Asian gangs, police said.

Lynn officers also indicated they may know the identity of the man who fled the scene, police said.

Police later learned that the handgun had been reported as stolen from Brookline, NH.

The investigation continues.

No charges have been filed, yet, police said.
