Man Charged After Boston Shootings Has Marblehead Ties

Man charged in Boston infirmary incident apparently has Marblehead ties.

Several sources including the Middlesex Sheriff's Office have listed Marblehead as  the residence of the man involved in Wednesday's shooting at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary.

The Sheriff's Office posted a news release Thursday that said Raymond Wallace, 36, of Marblehead, faces charges in connection with the shooting involving two officers of the Middlesex Sheriff’s Office.

No Marblehead address was given.

The sheriff says in the release that his office is committed to working with the Boston Police Department as the investigation continues.

Wallace is accused of reaching for a deputy's gun and starting a struggle that ended with a deputy shooting the ex-con.

Wallace, who is familiar to Salem Patch readers and the Salem police, is charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery on a public employee, and escape, according to a Boston Municipal Court complaint.

Wallace previously had a Salem address. Authorities have also referred to him as a North Billerica man.

In an earlier incident he was accused of donning a mask like the ones worn in the movie "The Town" and robbing the PetsMart on Highland Avenue before setting fire to his get-away car. He's also suspected in a hold-up of the now-closed Borders Books just over the Salem line in Peabody.

Our sister Patch in Waltham tracked down the owner of a deli where police on a stake-out confronted Wallace in 2001. He reached for one of their guns and...well, let's go to the video and let Rick Pizzi tell the story.
