Man Calls Police, Says He is Drunk and Lost

Thursday, May 3

  • At 11:36 a.m., vandalism was reported on Essex Street. A report was taken.
  • At 5:35 p.m., police received a 911 hangup from a payphone at
  • At 7:09 p.m., a person called police to report seeing a man walking with a young boy toward . The person told police the man looked like he was about to strike the child but stopped when he noticed the person watching. Police could not locate the man and child.

Friday, May 4

  • A loud group was reported on Cherry Street at 1:17 a.m.
  • At 1:29 a.m. a tree came down on Burpee Road. DPW was notified.
  • At 9:55 a.m., an unwanted guest was removed from a Paradise Road residence.
  • At 4:19 p.m., two bicycles were reported stolen from Elmwood Road.
  • At 5:21 p.m., a microwave was reported on fire on Humphrey Street. The fire was out before police and fire arrived.
  • At 7:50 p.m., a person reported seeing a scooter stop outside the school on Middlesex Ave. A person ran from a home, took something from the operator of the scooter and ran quickly back to the house.

Saturday, May 5

  • A deceased dog was reported in the roadway on Essex Street at 7:32 a.m.
  • At 9:06 a.m., a property line dispute was handled on Paradise Road.
  • At 11:05 a.m., a Jessie Street resident reported being bitten by a neighbor's loose dog.
  • Police and fire responded to a motor vehicle accident with injury on Paradise Road at 9:20 p.m.
  • At 11:36 p.m., Lynn Police told Swampscott Police they received a call about a person lost in Swampscott. The missing person later called back and said she was at her residence.

Sunday, May 6

  • A Puritan Lane resident reported their black lab took off running at 9 a.m. Police found the dog at the beach wall.
  • A resident of Forest Ave. reported damage to the tennis courts at 11 a.m. The resident reported the netting/pole was damaged, there was trash and three jackets on the court. 
  • At 2:30 p.m., a Paradise Rd. business reported a solicitor "posing" as a veteran.
  • At 4:21 p.m., an unattended 9-year-old child was reported in a Paradise Road parking lot. The child was gone when police arrived.
  • At 5:31 p.m., a young girl fell off a slide on Middlesex Ave. and was transported to North Shore Children's Hospital.

Monday, May 7

  • At 4:08 a.m., police received a 911 call from a resident saying they saw a small child wandering on Stetson Avenue without shoes on.
  • At 4:11 a.m., a mother called police to report she woke up and found her front door open and her child gone. Police found the child on Stetson and reunited them.
  • At 9:46 a.m., a sick raccoon was reported on Cedar Hill Terrace.
  • At 8:48 p.m., police received two 911 calls from two different Humphrey Street residences about the other, at the same time. Two people were placed under arrested for breaking and entering and receiving stolen property. (see below.)

Tuesday, May 8

  • At 12:34 p.m., possible fraud was reported with a tax collector on Essex Street.
  • The police station received annoying phone calls from a known party at 5:07 p.m.

Wednesday, May 9

  • Threats were reported on Widsor Ave. at 6:59 p.m.
  • At 7:30 p.m., a coyote was reported walking through an Eastman Ave. backyard.
  • was notified after a Boynton Street resident reported smelling smoke in her home and her carbon monoxide detector was going off.
  • At 10:18 p.m., a resident of Atlantic Road reported someone had tried to break in.

Thursday, May 10

  • A car fire was reported on Burrill Street at 6:58 a.m. The car was gone when units arrived.
  • At 8:54 a.m., people tearing up trash bags were reported along the sidewalk on Lincoln House Ave.
  • At 9:56 a.m., police received another call about a woman tearing up trash bags. Police found the woman and told her to stop it.
  • At 10:29 a.m., a resident of Elmwood Rd. reported a person blocking the sidewalk with offensive political signs.
  • At 3:14 p.m., police received a call about youths parked in a pick-up truck on Pitman Road, throwing trash out the windows and possibly smoking marijuana. Police did not locate the vehicle.
  • At 1:04 p.m., a resident of Fairview Avenue called police to report her neighbor had called her at work to tell her a crew was taking the roof off her house. Police arrived and found no crew and no damage to the roof.
  • At 2:21 p.m., a car hit the traffic island at Elmwood and Paradise roads. No injuries were reported but the car had two flat tires.
  • At 6:10 p.m., police received a call about a man yelling at his dog inside his home on Charlotte Road. Police spoke with the man and observed no signs of abuse on the dog.
  • At 9:29 p.m., a resident of Humphrey Street reported they arrived home and found someone had broken in by smashing a sliding door.
  • At 10:23 p.m., eggs were reportedly thrown at a house on Buena Vista Street.

Saturday, May 12

  • At 2:39 a.m., a person called police to report he was drunk and lost. Police found the man walking on Norfolk Ave. and brought him to his residence.
  • At 5:49 p.m., a person reported a family fishing on the pier. Police said the floats are not in yet and allowed the family to fish.
  • At 10:18 p.m., a resident of Foster Road reported interrupting two men checking car doors on his street.

Sunday, May 13

  • At 12:59 a.m., a fight was reported in the street on Franklin Ave. The "fight" was just two friends fooling around.
  • Police found a man with a facial injury after taking a fall on Beach Avenue.
  • A coyote was reported on Phillips Avenue at 9:24 p.m.

Monday, May 14

  • A coyote was spotted on Essex Street at 1:14 a.m.
  • "Tagging" was reported at the railroad depot at 2:07 a.m.
  • The School Resource Officer did a well being check on a child at the at 11:33 a.m.

The following people were arrested:

  • Robin Marie Kelly, 48, 246 Humphrey St., was arrested on May 7 and charged with breaking and entering in the night for felony and receiving stolen property over $250.
  • John Charles Furey, 45, 246 Humphrey St., was arrested on May 7 and charged with breaking and entering in the night for felony and receiving stolen property over $250.
  • Youssef Tyawil, 34, 41 Cherry St., was arrested on May 13 and charged with domestic assault and battery.
