Man Beaten With Bat and Robbed on Paradise

The incident took place early Wednesday morning when the victim was walking home.

A man was knocked to the ground and beaten with what is thought to have been a baseball bat on Paradise Road shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The assailants robbed the victim of his iPhone 4 and a gold chain, said Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy.

The victim was transported to the hospital with bruises to his head, forearm and wrist, police said.

"The male party reported that two or three male suspects dressed in black with ski masks on snuck up behind him and threw him to the ground demanding his money," said Det. Cassidy. "The suspects struck the victim in the head and in the ribs with an object believed to be a bat."

The attack took place at 95 Paradise Road near the intersection with Andrew Road, not far from Berkshire Street.

The victim was on the way to his home in Lynn.

Responding officers Steve Luck, Todd Pierce and Kevin Reen checked the area but did not locate the suspects, police said.
