Man Arraigned After Reportedly Assaulting Police

The 38-year-old faces three assault and battery charges along with drug possession, disorderly conduct and destruction of property charges.

 

A judge set bail at $960 on Tuesday at a 38-year-old Swampscott man's arraignment on three counts of assault and battery on police and other charges.

Glenn Carbonneau, of 66 Kesnington Lane, was arrested on April 3, after three officers responded to his residence for an individual they believed had overdosed on an unknown substance, according to the police report.

The man was lying on the ground in the basement, breathing but unconscious, the report states.

But when Officer Kevin Reen, Det. Rose Cheever and Officer Thomas Lucas approached, he instantly awoke and became very combative, the report states.

The man was placed in handcuffs and leg irons and transported to Salem Hospital for observation and evaluation.

The suspect was also charged with possession of marijuana, destruction of property over $250 and disorderly conduct.

He is scheduled for a pretrial hearing in Lynn District Court on June 5.
