Man 'Acts Strangely' at YMCA Pool

The following is an excerpt from the Salem Police Department's log:

Sunday, June 9:

  • At 6:13 p.m., police responded to a report of a suspicious man acting strangely in the pool at the YMCA on Leggs Hill Road. A man was reportedly swimming in the shallow end of the pool during family time when a condom fell out of his pocket, according to the log entry. Police will review the surveillance footage in an effort to obtain a photograph of the man, who reportedly entered the YMCA through a side door.
  • At 7:41 p.m., police responded to a report of a stolen license plate on Harbor Street.
  • At 8:18 p.m., police responded to a report of loud music on Hawthorne Street.
  • At 8:34 p.m., police responded to a disturbance at Mary Jane Lee Park on Palmer Street. Police reportedly found a large group of more than 100 people gathered in the park. Laurancia Exilhomme, 26, of 44 Park St., Salem, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, two counts of assault and battery and for reportedly having an outstanding warrants
  • At 9:52 p.m., a police officer stopped a motorcyclist on Highland Avenue after reportedly watching him blow through two stop signs. Once pulled over, the motorcyclist reportedly waited for an officer to exit his cruiser before speeding away. Click Here for our full story.

Monday, June 10:

  • At 12:18 a.m., police responded to a report of a man sleeping in his motor vehicle in a parking lot on Trader's Way. The man, who told police he was homeless, was moved along from the area.
  • At 1:20 a.m., police and fire units responded to a report of a car into a building on Pope Street. A woman will be summonsed to court on a charge of operating an unregistered motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
  • At 2:24 a.m., police responded to a report of a man yelling and breaking bottles in the street near the intersection of Derby and English streets. Police spoke with the man, who was just collecting bottles.
  • At 3:10 a.m., police and fire units responded to a reported fire at the Salem Transfer Station on Swampscott Road. Click Here for our full story.
  • At 9:16 a.m., police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Canal Street. The pedestrian was reportedly uninjured.
  • At 9:59 a.m., six hypodermic needles were discovered in the bushes in front of a business on Loring Avenue.
  • At 10:29 a.m., police responded to a report of two suspicious people leaving bags on the tracks near the MBTA station on Bridge Street. The report came in from the MBTA police. Responding officers determined the bags were filled with clothing.
  • At 10:34 a.m., police responded to a report of a past shoplifting incident at the CVS on Essex Street. An employee told police a man was caught stealing powdered baby formula from the store and fled the area on a bicycle.
  • At 11:01 a.m., a Savoy Road man called police to report that a bicycle was stolen off of his front porch.
  • At 2:16 p.m., police responded to a report of a fight in a parking lot on Highland Avenue.
  • At 3:05 p.m., a Daniels Street woman called police to report that two men wearing landscaping shirts stole flowers and plants from her backyard overnight.
  • At 3:13 p.m., police moved along a man found sleeping in the Broad Street Cemetery.
  • At 5:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a possibly rabid squirrel on Cedar Avenue.
