Lobsters Wash Ashore at Fisherman's Beach

Swampscott received a report that about $1,000 worth of lobsters were stolen.

Word went out yesterday from Swampscott police to Marblehead to be on the lookout for a possible lobster thief.

Overnight about $1,000 worth of lobsters were reportedly stolen from Swampscott Harbor, according to a message relayed to Marblehead police and, subsequently, to the Marblehead harbormaster, the Marblehead police log stated.

Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy said on Friday that a local lobsterman reported seeing a boat in Swampscott Harbor around 4:30 a.m.

But the lobsters that were reported as stolen washed up on shore, the detective said.
It's unknown what happened, whether suspects got spooked or not, he said.
