Heroin, Knife, Baton Found on Arrested Lynn Man

A Lynn man was ordered held without bail this afternoon after he allegedly attempted to steal items out of the bed of a pickup truck on Cherry Street Saturday morning.

A Lynn man arrested on Cherry Street early Saturday morning was ordered held without bail in court this afternoon for his alleged involvement in an attempt to steal items from the bed of a pickup truck.

Christian P. Johnson, 30, of 162 Union St., Lynn, pleaded innocent Thursday in Lynn District Court to charges of carrying a dangerous weapon (police baton), possessing a class A substance (heroin), attempting to commit a crime, disorderly conduct and possessing a knife over 2.5 inches.

At 2:07 a.m., local officers responded to 37 Cherry St. after it was reported that a man had "caught his neighbor's boyfriend trying to steal (tools) out of the bed of his pickup truck," according to court documents.

When they arrived on scene, police reportedly found Johnson severely injured on the front lawn of the residence and placed him in handcuffs. A search of his person uncovered a glass pipe, a police-style collapsible baton, a small bag of heroin and a knife.

Anthony McKay, the owner of the pickup truck, told police that Johnson came at him in a "bladed stance" and he struck him in the face to defend himself. McKay would later be arrested on a charge of assault and battery after it was discovered that Johnson had suffered a broken jaw in the incident that would need to be repaired with emergency surgery, according to court documents.

Johnson was ordered held without bail Thursday because he was already out on bail for an arrest in April. In April, Johnson was reportedly found passed out on a sidewalk in Lynn while in possession of a class C substance. He was also charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct in that incident.

McKay is due back in court on Nov. 17 for a pretrial hearing.
