Former State Rep. Arrested for OUI

Former state Rep. Douglas Petersen was arrested Wednesday night on a charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Former Swampscott state Rep. Douglas Petersen, 63, of Rose Avenue, Marblehead was arrested Wednesday night and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

According to police, at 8:17 p.m., Marblehead officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel responded to the intersection of Tedesco Street and Brookhouse Drive for a report of a minor motor vehicle accident.

Responding officers reportedly found Petersen near his 2002 BMW 325XI, which lost a wheel when it struck a traffic island. When questioned, Petersen reportedly admitted to consuming alcohol before driving, according to the Daily Item.
