Swampscott Police Officer Candace Doyle responded to the call and saw two suspects riding BMX bikes on Windsor Avenue near the Lynn city line.

One of them was carrying a bike, as well.

The officer put on the cruiser's emergency lights and the suspects fled in different directions, the report states.

The suspect who was holding the bike dropped it.

The officer pulled up next to one of the suspects and ordered him to stop. He dropped a large hockey bag and headed toward Clark Park.

The officer had to pause her pursuit as a vehicle approached.

The victim later said the bag and its contents including sneakers, hockey gloves and paintball guns were his and had been stored in his basement.

Swampscott Police Officer Steven Luck joined the search for the suspects.

About 11 p.m. he was on foot near the park behind an Archer Street residence and found someone lying in a gully, a silver BMX bike at his side.

The officer handcuffed the youth and brought him to the Swampscott Police Station.
