Fire Knocked Down at 10 Warwick Terrace in Marblehead

This is the second fire Marblehead firefighters have knocked down in the last week.

Firefighters stopped the spread of fire at 10 Warwick Terrace Saturday night, limiting damage to the split-level home.

No one was hurt.

The fire was reported shortly after 8 p.m. by the homeowner.

The family is a mom and dad and their baby, said Marblehead Fire Chief Jason Gilliland.

Town records indicate the home is owned by Thomas Rice.

The family had been using their fireplace and closed its glass doors to shut it down for the evening, the fire chief said.

The couple noticed smoke seeping behind the mantle and heard a crackling noise and called 911, the fire chief aid.

Firefighters arrived shortly and knocked the fire down. They cut into the wall searching for fire and smoldering ashes. They cut into the roof to ventilate the fire.

Damage was minor and the spread limited to two bays, the fire chief said.

The home is located at the end of Warwick Terrace, off Everett Paine Bloulevard which runs to Lafayette Street.

Salem firefighters provided station back-up while Marblehead's firefighters were at Warwick Terrace.

This is the second fire in Marblehead in the last week, both a result of either a fireplace or woodstove.

Early Monday morning, Marblehead firefighters knocked down a two-alarm fire that swept up the side of a 2.5-story home and into the eaves at 80 Naugus Ave.
