Fill The Boot Part 2 For MDA Wednesday
Firefighters will be collecting donations at the Swampscott Mall Access Road Wednesday from 9 am to 3 pm.
Swampscott firefighters will be fundraising for the Muscular Dystrophy Association at their second "Fill the Boot' event this year, the first of which was in October.

WHAT: Swampscott firefighters are raising money for worldwide research seeking treatments and cures for muscular dystrophy and related diseases. They’re also helping fund outstanding Muscular Dystrophy Association local clinics, support groups and summer camp.

WHY: Fill the Boot funds support local MDA services, including medical clinics staffed with specialists in neuromuscular disease and special summer camps for kids.
Since 1954, professional firefighters nationwide have been organizing Fill the Boot drives to raise vital funds for MDA local programs, and worldwide research seeking treatments and cures.
Last year the MDA had $91.4 million in active research grants underway, including 28 initiatives throughout Massachusetts totaling more than $11.7 million.
