Engagement Ring Found in Grocery Store Egg Carton

The following information came from the Swampscott Police Department. Where charges are listed, they do not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Sept. 23

  • 5:37 p.m., a motor vehicle operator was given a criminal citation on Paradise Road for driving an unregistered car.
  • 5:39 p.m., police chagred two Beverly minors , 14,with breaking and entering, trespassing and resisting arrest.
Tuesday, Sept. 24
  • 8:32 a.m., four vehicles were ticketed on Columbia St.
  • 8:46 a.m., police gave a criminal citation to a driver on Eastman Avenue for driving without a license and driving and unregistered vehicle.
  • 1:37 p.m.,  the log states: "CALLER REPORTS THAT HE FOUND AN ENGAGEMENT RING EARLIER TODAY IN AN EGG CARTON AT STOP AND SHOP. HE SAID HE TURNED IT IN TO THE SERVICE DESK, AND HAS SINCE THOUGHT BETTER OF THAT, AND THOUGHT WE SHOULD HAVE BEEN INFORMED. REQUEST OFFICER TO GO TO THE SERVICE DESK, RETRIEVE THIS RING, AND BRING IT TO THE STATION FOR SAFEKEEPING. REPORT WILL BE REQUIRED.  THE RIGHTFUL OWNER SUBSEQUENTLY CAME INTO THE STATION TO REPORT SHE HAD LOST HER RING. THE RING WAS RETURNED TO A VERY HAPPY INDIVIDUAL."
