Employee Charged with Embezzling More than $12,000 in Funds

The employee allegedly refunded money to his personal bank account.


A Lynn man was arraigned last week on charges that he was stealing funds from his workplace, the Swampscott UPS store on Paradise Road.

Douglas Brewer, 27, of 365 Lynnfield St., Lynn was released on personal recognizance Jan. 17, in Lynn District Court. He is scheduled to return to court on March 4, for a probable cause hearing.

Brewer allegedly conducted 26 refund transactions crediting his personal bank account with refunds totaling $12,531.43, according to court records.
 
The incidents allegedly took place at 505 Paradise Road between July and December of 2013, according to police records.

Brewer was charged with a count of embezzlement/misapplication by receiver; larceny over $250; and larceny over $250 by false pretense.
