Daylight Search Underway for Missing Lynn Kayaker

The search for the man started after he was reported missing by his girlfriend late Saturday afternoon.

 

The search for missing kayaker Maryan Lisovich, 23, of Lynn continues this morning.

The Coast Guard continues its water search with a helicopter and 47-foot boat, said Coast Guard Operation Specialist Trevor Frommherz, at 8 am Sunday.

Meanwhile, Swampscott firefighters and police are continuing their search from land — at the water's edge.

Swampscott fire Capt. Remo Zimbaldi said firefighters searched the shore line last night between Fisherman's Beach and Preston Beach.

The tide and darkness made it difficult, he said, and the operation continues this morning.  

Police said this morning shortly before 8 that there was nothing new to report on the search for the missing kayaker and that the search continues. 

The Lynn man's girlfriend reported him missing in a 911 call about 5:30 pm Saturday.

About 7 pm his blue kayak was found at the waterline at  with the paddle in it.

It was unclear if the kayak had washed to the shoreline or been dragged there, Lt. Garrett Meyer said earlier.

The Lynn man shoved off from  in his kayak about 4 p.m. to go fishing. 

“He was reported to be in a blue kayak; no shirt, no lifejacket and red swim trunks,” said Lt. Meyer.

The Coast Guard vessel involved in the search is a 47-foot Coast Guard motor life boat. The helicopter is an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter.

A Massachusetts Environmental Police boat was searching the waters last night.

The Marblehead harbormaster was also helping with the search.
