Car Dislodges Utility Pole on Humphrey Street

The accident took place Friday morning shortly before 9 near the Marblehead line.

 

A vehicle struck a utility pole  by the Marblehead line this morning, leaving a hanging utility line.

The incident, at 1050 Humphrey St., took place shortly before 9 a.m..

The driver was out of the vehicle when police and fire crews arrived, said Swampscott fire Capt. Mark Ryan.

The man was traveling with his dog, and he did not want to be transported for medical evaluation until arrangements were made for someone to care for the dog, the fire captain said.

Arrangements were made and the driver was set to be transported by ambulance for the evaluation.

The accident's impact dislodged a utility pole, leaving a low-hanging wire, the captain said.

Authorities set up road barriers and detoured traffic.

National grid was called to the scene for repairs.
