Car Break-Ins and a Gunshot over the Town Line

The following is an excerpt from the Swampscott Police logs. Where charges are mentioned it does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, March 27

  • At 8:22 a.m., police received a report from a Charlotte Road resident that several cars were broken into.  
  • At 8:35 a.m., police received a report from another Charlotte Road resident that a motor vehicle was broken into.  
  • At 8:36 a.m., police received a report from another Charlotte Road resident that a motor vehicle was broken into.  
  • At 8:56 a.m., another Charlotte Road resident reported an unlocked vehicle was entered though nothing was taken. 
  • At 10:37 a.m., a Juniper Road resident reported his motor vehicle was broken into overnight.
  • At 11 a.m., a Tupelo Road resident reported a motor vehicle was broken into. 
  • At 11:11 a.m., another Juniper Road resident reported a motor vehicle was broken into.
  • At 2:58 p.m., police responded to a scream for help in the area of Mudge Street. A gunshot was reported. (*More information below.)
  • At 2:59 p.m., store security at Marshalls reported a shoplifter leaving the store. 
  • At 5:17 p.m., police met with the high school principal regarding a matter at the school. It was referred to the school resource officer. 
  • At 7:21 p.m., a Cherry Street resident reported his daughter was bitten by a small white dog. The animal control officer was notified.  
  • At 9:24 p.m., a Shackle Way party reported that a very skinny man in his 30s and wearing a black hoodie and jeans and smoking a cigarette was looking in her window. The party reported that she has seen the man in the complex in the past. Police units checked the complex for the man.

 

*An officer on patrol in the Mudge Street area heard reports of someone screamingm, according to Swampscott police Det. Bill Waters. The officer ascertained that an individual on Mudge Street, just over the Line in Lynn, had been shot at by an unknown assailant. Officers from Swampscott joined Lynn police officers at the scene to search for a suspect. He was not injured and a gun was recovered at the scene by  a Swampscott officer and turned over to Lynn Police. Case is under investigation by Lynn PD.
