Armed Robbery at Olympia

The robber had a handgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of money.

A man showed a handgun before robbing Olympia Sports at the Swampscott Mall Saturday shortly before 5 p.m.

The robber demanded money, saying no one would get hurt if they complied, said Swampscott police Det. Tim Cassidy.

The man, said to be in his 20s and described as dark-skinned and Hispanic, fled on foot towards Paradise Road, police said.

He was wearing a green jacket, gray shirt, and blue pants with a white splatter of paint on the thigh area, police said.

The man was wearing black sunglasses and had a mole on his nose, police said.

Police are reviewing video from the 450 Paradise Road store.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Swampscott police detectives at 781-595-1111.
