18-Year-Old Charged With Domestic Assault

Cody Farris of Lynn allegedly twisted a girl's necklace around her throat and launched his bicycle at her and a friend.

An 18-year-old was ordered held without bail last week  pending a dangerousness hearing after he allegedly physically assaulted two girls.

Cody Farris, 18, of President Street in Lynn was charged Thursday with three counts of domestic assault and battery and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, according to court records.

He is scheduled for a dangerousness hearing today in Lynn District Court.

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Thursday, Farris allegedly "ghost rode" — launched — his mountain bike into two girls, ages 18 and 15, who were walking in the area of Monument Avenue and Burrill Street, the records state.

In addition, Farris allegedly tightened the 18-year-old girl's necklace around her throat on two occasions while she was on her way to the library.

Farris told police that he had a verbal argument with his girlfriend.

Both girls told police that Farris had twisted the necklace around the older girl's neck, the record states.

The officer saw red marks on the girl's throat, the record states.

Police placed Farris under arrest.

The victim waived medical treatment.

Farris was arraigned the next day in Lynn District Court where he was ordered held without bail, pending the dangerousness hearing.
