Swampscott sets the stage for Boston Magazine Design Home of the Year

Recently The Boston Business Journal released their quarterly ranking of Massachusetts' top real estate communities. Swampscott took the #17 spot and the downtown waterfront certainly has a game changer on its hands.

What longtime business associates Barry Turkanis and Bruce Paradise recognized was that Swampscott has more character, more history and more pride than most surrounding towns but currently most of the local housing stock consists of the conversion of existing buildings. In what can be considered a true visionary move, the developer & builder have taken the stretch of land once occupied by Captain Jack’s on Humphrey Street and transformed it into The Concordia – fourteen luxury boutique waterfront condominiums. Swampscott has yet to see new construction with such attention to detail; incorporating classic seaside architectural elements with the amenities of a modern residence.

High property values and what are regarded as high taxes have contributed to a large percentage of Swampscott homeowners being successful professionals with children; drawn to the area by the stellar school system. Interestingly enough, Swampscott school district outperformed over 72 percent of all other districts while taxpayers paid less than 54 percent of all other districts on a per student cost basis - 90 percent of Swampscott High School graduates go on to higher education.

There are relatively few singles occupying the town, however, the perception is that the number may be growing, perhaps a result of new, trendy, upscale restaurants opening along the Humphrey Street oceanfront drive and close proximity to Boston.

In what is a project inspired by their hometown, Turkanis & Paradise are proud to have the largest waterfront unit at the Concordia chosen to be Boston Magazine’s Design Home of the Year. Beginning in September visitors has an opportunity to tour the home and take in the exquisite design & architecture with sweeping views across the water to the Boston Skyline.

Gibson Sotheby’s International Realty of Boston is the exclusive listing agent for the Concordia & all proceeds from the Boston Magazine Design Home tour benefit the Boston Children’s Hospital.
