Mother's Day

Mother Never have I looked uponYour presence and your graceAnd found a wrinkle not welled earnedOr a frown upon your face You have weatheredThe darkest stormsAnd given back with trustWithstood the deepest cuts life gaveAnd faced the earthly thrust The eternal glow within youShines brightly through your tearsYou had my back when it all fell downYour hands a place for all my fears The hallowed flag waves gently nowAcross the crystal pondThe little wooden bridge still standsBirds gently whisper their favorite song The trees, they stand so strong and proudThe leaves are ready to burstThe sunshine fills the clear blue skyThis winter was the worst Thank you Mother for my birthThank you for your styleThank you for always placing me firstThank you for the care and smiles I humbly stop and honor youOn this very special dayAnd place my heart right next to yoursAnd offer these words in May “You were the creator of my lifeThat filled me with your worthYou were the hand that soothed meIn the moment I felt my worst Bless your golden heart of loveAnd your healing outstretched armsThe courage you showed me I will treasureTill the moon and the stars lose their charms.” For Mother’s Day May 11, 2014Original poem by Don Orne
