Obituary: Sylvia J. (Moses) Olsen, 91, of Swampscott

The obituary for Sylvia J. (Moses) Olsen, 91, of Swampscott.

Sylvia J. (Moses) Olsen, 91 years, of Swampscott, formerly of Revere & Lynn. Entered into rest Thursday evening, May 22, 2014 at the Aviv Centers for the Living in Peabody. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Olsen. Born in Boston, dear daughter of the late Samuel and Alice (Feldstein) Moses. She was a graduate of Revere High School.

Mrs. Olsen had been employed as a Medical Secretary for the Soldier's Home in Chelsea for many years.

Sylvia was a lover of life and people. She was an avid reader and a wonderful writer. Mrs. Olsen loved her family and will be greatly missed by all she knew, especially by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She is survived by two devoted daughters, Laurie Barrows and her husband Robert of Swampscott and Ann Johnson and her husband Daniel of Peabody; six cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Barrows Fox and Jaimie Barrows, Adam Champion and his wife Sarah and Kendra Miller and her husband Jay, Mark Johnson and his wife Jaclyn and Alex Johnson and his wife Michaela; seven adored great grandchildren, Ben and Liam, Ellis and Tucker, Teagan, Ellie and Nathan and two dear sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Doris Moses. She was also the doting mother of the late Alice Champion and the loving sister of the late Arthur Moses and Herb "Buddy" Moses. 

Services at Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, 10 Vinnin Street, SALEM on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11:00AM. Interment at Pride of Lynn Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial observance following the interment until 7 PM and on Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the home of Laurie and Robert Barrows. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be donated to the American Cancer Society Mass Division, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701 or to the Alzheimer's Association of Eastern MA, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02473 or to Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
