Obituary: Michael J. DiLisio

Michael DiLiso, 72, died March 7, 2012, a lifelong resident of Swampscott.

 

Michael J. DiLisio, 72, died March 7, 2012, peacefully at home surrounded by his family and friends.

He was born in Lynn on October 24, 1939 to John and Mary (Gambale) DiLisio. He was a lifelong resident of Swampscott, and graduated from Swampscott High School in 1957.  Michael was the husband of Nancy (Delano) DiLisio. They were high school sweethearts and were in their 50thyear of marriage.

Michael was a retiree from the Swampscott Fire Department having 22 years of service with the rank as a Captain.

An avid golfer he was a former Club Champion of Salem Country Club where he was a member for 37 years.  A former member of the Swampscott Club he was also a Town Meeting Member for many years.

Mike was formerly in the United States Army Reserve. In addition to his wife Nancy, he leaves his sisters Rose Cotton, Laura McCall and her husband Joseph, his brother John DiLisio and his wife Jenny, all of Swampscott and his brother James DiLisio and his wife Kay of Townsend, MD.

He also leaves many nieces and nephews including Francis “Ted” Delano and his wife Candace Doyle Delano. and Godsons Todd and Timothy Cotton, Justin DiLisio and Scott Delano; and his loving family dogs, Rosie and Daisy.

His funeral will be from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN & RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME,  67 Ocean St. (Rt1A) Lynn on Monday at 9AM, followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott at 10AM.

Interment will be in Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-8PM.
