Obituary for Tara Sisco, Swampscott METCO Director

Visitation hours were Sunday; and the funeral and burial Monday morning.

Tara Geniene Sisco was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 13, 1970 to Nancy and Ronald Sisco. Tara accepted Christ at an early age and had a strong faith.

She was a very curious child who thoroughly enjoyed school and was an avid learner. She graduated from Brookline High School, earned her Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern University and her Master of Arts in Science from Springfield College.

Tara was extremely family oriented and loved being in the company of all her family. She had a special love for young people; not just those in her family, but all youth. She would later transfer this love to her career. She worked at the New England Home for Little Wanderers and was employed as a social worker by the City of Boston.

At one point she even established her own day care center, but most recently, Tara served as the METCO Director for the town of Swampscott. She was passionate about her students, loving and nurturing each one as if they were her own. She encouraged her students to dream big and her dedication to them was evident. She clearly felt that their success was her success as well.

In 1999 she met and fell in love with Anthony Ranson. From this love, Tara’s greatest accomplishment and pride was born, Tiara Monet Ranson. Tara gave birth to her princess on August 4, 2000 and she was the joy of her life. Tara was an amazingly devoted and loving mother and shared a very special bond with her only child.

As an adult, Tara enjoyed visiting various churches throughout Boston and she served devotedly in her community where she was always willing to help others. Tara was a music lover, a talented artist, an amazing hair dresser and a wonderful organizer.

Tara went home peacefully to her heavenly father on December 28, 2013, however, her vibrant eyes and infectious smile are etched in our hearts for eternity.

Tara leaves to cherish her memories daughter, Tiara Ranson; parents, Nancy Sisco (Boston, MA) and Ronald Sisco (Durham, NC), grandmothers, Barbara Holt (Boston, MA) and Virginia Sisco (Boston, MA); Sister, Sakeenah Chapman (Boston, MA) and Brother, Ronald Sisco (Greensboro, NC); her companion Anthony Ranson (Boston, MA), a host of family and friends, and students for whom she cared very deeply.
