Mr. Albert DiLisio, 85 years of Swampscott, died Friday August 30, 2013 in Massachusetts General Hospital after a brief illness. Mr. DiLisio is the husband of Mrs. Carolyn A. (Richards) DiLisio. He was born in Swampscott the son of the late Michael and Flora (D'Agnese) Dilisio. He was raised in Swampscott and lived in Swampscott all of his life.
Al was an Army veteran of the Korean War and served in Germany as a Corporal. He was a 1946 graduate of Swampscott High School and served as a Tri Captain of the football, hockey and golf teams. Al was a loving family man whose passion was golf.
He was a long time member of Salem Country Club and has won the Senior Club Championship as well as the Blue Coat Championship. While Al was in the Armed Forces in 1951 he won the European Open in East Germany. Al served the Swampscott Housing Authority for 30 years.
Al owned, with his brother Vincent, the DiLisio Brothers Golf Range in Swampscott. He enjoyed teaching golf at the range; he hosted and taught the Swampscott and Marblehead Golf Teams at the driving range as well. His other business interests he shared with his brother Vincent were Hawthorne Brook Spring Water, a landscaping business, garden and nursery, and a fuel oil business.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn, with who he shared 59 years of marriage, he leaves his sons, Donald A. DiLisio and his wife Cheryl of Swampscott, Daniel R. DiLisio and his wife Allison of Swampscott, his daughter Debra A. DiLisio of Swampscott, his grandchildren, Janelle, Danielle, Gillian, Gia, Daniel, Jr., a great granddaughter Sophia Rose Hart. He also leaves a brother Vincent and his wife Antoinette of Swampscott and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. He is the brother of the late Angelina Faia, Lawrence, Anthony, Ralph, Michael, John, Ernest and Irene DiLisio.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 9:00 AM from the SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rte 129) Lynn followed by a funeral mass in Holy Family Church, Lynn at 10:00 AM Burial in Swampscott Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The family prefers donations be made to the Hospice of the North Shore, 75 Sylvan Street Suite B102, Danvers, MA 01923.
