Swampscott Girls Tennis Remain Undefeated ( 7 -0 )

Girls Tennis (7-0) play rival Marblehead tomorrow @ 7 in Marblehead. Come Support our undefeated team in the match of the season.

The girls tennis team had two solid wins last week against Lynn English on Wednesday (5-0) and Lynn Classical on Friday (5-0).  They continued their winning streak today 7 - 0 for the season with another 5 - 0  victory over Beverly.  Our singles players are very solid.  Anna Raptunovich  (1st singles) won 6-0, 6-0 against English 6-0,6-1 against Classical and defeated her Beverly opponent 6-2,6-0.  She will play Tori Booth tomorrow from Marblehead. Anna lost a close match against Tori last year and I anticpate another close match this year.  The girls are both sophomores and will enjoy this competition for another two years.

Vivien Gere won her last three matches at 2nd singles.  She dropped just two games today against Beverly and didn't lose a game against English or Classical. She has worked very hard the last two weekends with my assistant coach Jennifer Cleary.

Veronica Pyatigorskaya has dominated at third singles all season.  She did not drop a single game in the last three matches and has lost only two games the entire season.  Veronica is a powerful player who is able to hit both top spin and slice as well as keeping the ball in play.  She is definitely a weapon in that position.

Allegra Walker and Jessica Zolott have won the last three matches.  6-0,6-0 vs English; 6-1, 6-0 vs Classical and met stronger opponents today securing a 6-1,6-3 victory.  This combination continues to improve.  Once again they have exhibited great communication and their strategy gets better with each match.

The best match of the day against Beverly goes to our second doubles team of Natalyia Andrushchenko and Michelle Schnayder.  Natalyia spent  90 minutes working with Lenny Polaccco on Sunday ( head coach of the girls tennis team before retiring three years ago) .  He was instrumental in improving all aspects of her game and it was evident today in the confidence she exhibited on the court. Her partner, Michelle is a very consistent player and Natalyia compliments her in so many ways.

It was great to have my assistant coach and daughter Jennifer Cleary back on the side lines with me.  Her experience playing both singles and doubles in college has certainly been helpful.  She really brings a lot of knowledge and enthusiam to our team. It is evident that the girls respect her and enjoy playing with her.

We are looking forward to our BIG MATCH vs Marblehead tomorrow at 7 in Marblehead.  Please come support the undefeated Big Blue Girls Tennis Team.
