North Shore Lore

Come, learn and enjoy your North Shore history!

The Swampscott Historical Society would like to invite the public to hear our April speaker, Jim McAllister.

North Shore Highlights

Boston’s North Shore is one of the oldest American “neighborhoods.” The region can lay claim to many of the nation’s earliest communities, each with its own special place in history.  Jim’s fascinating survey of the area features slides and stories highlighting Marblehead patriots, Ipswich First Period homes, the Peabody leather industry, Cape Ann artists, Essex shipbuilding, Swampscott summer folk, and many other important themes related to North Shore cities and towns.  As always, Jim's talk will be chock full of anecdotes culled from the annals of local history.
