NSSC: Summer Splashes

NSSC: Summer Splashes

That’s the great thing about weekends in July you never really know what you are in for. This passed weekend, as the hot summer sun scorched the city streets, the swimmers of North Shore Swim Club set the pool ablaze again at the MIT pool, where the club hosted the New England Swimming Summer Qualifier meet, for the third year in a row.

Twenty-eight teams including NSSC, from around the New England region participated in this weekends qualifier meet. All of the swimmers participating in this meet were swimming to try and add to their championship meet schedules. North Shore Swim Club had 80 swimmers participating in this meet. The meet was a great success for the team with, best times made, new 14 & under, Open, and Sectional cuts made by many of the swimmers. The next few weeks are going to be a whirlwind of gearing up for back to back weekends at Harvard University for both the 14 & under, and Open Championships.

North Shore Swim Club would also like to congratulate all of our graduating seniors Julia Baynes- Wheaton, Carly Biron- UMass Amherst, Linday Buckle- Franklin & Marshall, Ryan Flemming- Denison University,Emma Gaquin- George Washington University, Rebecca Greenburg- Wheaton Collge Joshua Herzberg- Chicago University, Liora Mael- Oberlien, Sam Mackie- Bucknell University, Ryan Weeks- Colby College. As well as swimmer/ coach Mat O’Brien for his 80th out of 124-place finish in the 100 meter fly at Olympic Trials.
