Winner — Best Hair Salon

The hair salon is sandwiched between and at the Swampscott Mall on Paradise Road.

But its emotional location is near and dear to many customers who voted in the Best of Patch Readers' Choice 2012 contest.

The Cutting Crew, a family-owned business, was a clear cut winner with 40 votes.

Owner Joanne Lyons said she and her eight cutters — including two daughters — are excited by their selection and proud of it.

Why did the business do so well in the contest?

"I have a marvelous staff and I stay eternally grateful for every customer who comes through the door," she said.

One of her customers posted a review on the Patch website saying the Cutting Crew gives value and satisfaction.

"I think the cutting crew is terrific, the staff is friendly, the service is great, the price is right and I leave happy and not broke," said Cheryl DiLiso, in part of her review.

George Major had this to say about The Cutting Crew in the Patch comments section:

"Went to Cutting Crew for the first time last night and loved it. Local business with women who asked what I wanted as they cut, not cutting and then asking if I liked it."

Next week in the Patch Readers' Choice 2012 contest we will seek out the best place to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
