Selectmen voted 3-2 on Monday to require candidates for the town administrator opening to take an online assessment.

 

1) Newsbit of the Day: Selectmen voted 3-2 on Monday to require the three candidates for the town administrator opening to take an online assessment. The board's  final interview, with Thomas Younger of Belmont, the acting town administrator in Ipswich, is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:15 pm.

2) Swampscott Scholars: Samuel J. Rakoc, of Swampscott, is participating in St. Lawrence University's International Study Program for the spring 2012 semester. Rakoc, a member of the class of 2013 at St. Lawrence, is studying in the International Student Exchange Program. He graduated from Swampscott High School.

3) Swampscott Athletics: The Big Blue girls' basketball team will watch Stoneham and Lynnfield play in the first round of the NEC Div 3 North tournament on Wednesday.

The earned a bye, by virtue of their 17-3 regular season record, and will play the winner of Wednesday's game in a home match-up on Saturday at 7 pm.

4) Weather Watch: Snow. National Weather Service forecasters predict snow, mainly after 2 pm, with a high near 35. Possible accumulation of 2 to 4 inches through Wednesday night.

5) Tide Watch: Today's low tide at  is 10:15 am (1.08 ft). High tide is 4:32 pm (7.62 ft). The sun will rise at 6:19 am and set at 5:32 pm.
