Five Things You Need to Know Today: April 3

1) Newsbit of the Day: Look for a public hearing on four proposed zoning changes on the town warrant. The hearing is tentatively scheduled for Monday, April 23. The location has yet to be decided. The changes include two Planning Board-sponsored items and two petition articles. We will preview them on the Patch.

2) Swampscott Scholars:  Swampscott's Yury Yakushevich made the Fall 2011 Dean's List at the University of Massachusetts-Boston, which has an undergraduate enrollment of more than 11,000 students and offers degrees in dozens of majors. 

3) Swampscott Athletics:  Late registration for Spring 2012 Intramural Youth Soccer, ages U5-U9, continues through April 7.  Please visit www.swampscottsoccer.com The non-guaranteed "late" registration period ($90 fee) will run from April 1st to April 7th (if we are unable to place your child on a team your registration fee will be refunded).  No registrations will be accepted after April 7th.

4) Weather Watch:  The National Weather Service is calling for a sunny day, with a high near 51 degrees.

5) Red Sox Watch: In two days the Boston Red Sox play their first regular season game of the 2012 season. It's in Detroit at 1 pm vs the mighty Tigers of Motown.
