Anticipation is building for the release of local author Deahn Berrini's novel, "How to Earn Your Keep," at Gaga Gallery tonight from 7:00 to 9:00.

Published by Four Square Press (info@foursquarepress.com), How to Earn Your Keep examines how economic stress can challenge one's morality--until an illuminating moment brings us back to our senses.

The story unfolds at a law office in Salem and in horse country just north. Kit Lavoie, home from college after losing her scholarship, struggles to care for her ill-equipped mother and sexually curious younger brother, Larry. As Larry learns to trust himself, Kit finds the courage to act.

Deahn's writing is lyrical but spare, evocative and knowing at a deep level about human nature. Her first novel, Milkweed, tells the story of a returning veteran from his girlfriend's point of view. It received five stars from Midwest review and was recommended by The VWA Veteran, a publication of the Vietnam Veterans of America.

Come on down to Gaga Gallery tonight to hear Deahn read from her new book! Refreshments will be served and signed copies available for sale. It is also available at the Spirit of '76 2 bookstore in Vinnin Square and online through Amazon.
