Cub Scout Sign Up Monday September 16 from 6PM to 8PM

When school starts here in Swampscott, it means that Scouting gets in gear too. Our town is fortunate to have a very active Boy Scout Troop 53 for older boys, as well as Cub Scout Pack 55 for younger boys. As the Cubmaster for Pack 55, I wanted to take this opportunity to invite parents to have their sons join us this year.

Cub Scouts serve boys from the first grade through the fifth grade (ages 6 to 10) and provide some great opportunities for learning, personal growth and most importantly fun. In fact, lots of fun!

The boys of Pack 55 will once again launch rockets this year, build and race Pinewood Derby cars, visit museums, spend time on board of real battleships, have a few parties and do some camping. At each step of the way, our Cub Scouts will be saluted for their hard work and earn recognition for their achievements.

The Cub Scouts program helps each of our sons to grow, learn new skills, effectively pursue individual endeavors as well as build leadership traits and engender a cohesive spirit of camaraderie and teamwork. Each activity in which the Cub Scout participates leaves him with greater confidence in himself and provides talents which complement his academic and extracurricular life. And every single activity is built around the central tenet that it must be enjoyable.

Adult leaders in Pack 55 undergo a CORI check and complete specialized training. Parents are always welcome to actively participate in Pack activities. Pack 55 welcomes boys from all backgrounds who wish to be included.

While we have been able to keep the dues at the same level as last year, we know that some of our friends and neighbors may need some additional help to make the investment in their son’s Scouting activities. Anyone who wants more information on scholarship help should feel comfortable sending me a confidential email at pack55cubmaster@aol.com

Be sure to to get your son signed up for Cub Scout Pack 55. Drop by  Congregation Shirat Hayam (55 Atlantic Avenue - Rear Entrance) any time from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday September 16.
