Knowledge Vs. Wisdom

Sure a tomato is a fruit, but do you really want to put it in a fruit salad? Certified Life Coach Jeff Katz explores knowledge, wisdom and excellence. Follow him online at twitter.com/coachjeffkatz

Surely you remember that old phrase, "a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing." There are very few expressions which really hit home like that one does. If you are of a certain age, you just don't get it though. After all, while you are a child in school you find that you are cramming your head with all sorts of knowledge. Facts, figures, and the like are to be learned, memorized, recited, regurgitated, rinse and repeat. I before E except after C. Got it. 1 plus 1 equals two. Sure does. A fruit is defined as seed bearing. Check. And all the way through school, we keep hoping that there is some small part of our brain which is still available to store some more information. Well, now that we find ourselves in possession of all of this knowledge what do we do?

I goes before E except after C, but what of "ancient"?  1 plus 1 equals 2 unless of course we mean 1 father plus 1 wife equals 1 family. And sure a tomato is a fruit, but you'd really want to avoid putting it in a fruit salad.

Seems to me that knowledge is the awareness of the rules, wisdom is understanding the exceptions and excellence is when you are capable of utilizing both appropriately.
