Superman, Shoes & Fashion, Love Stories and More at JCC Author Series

The Man of Steel kicks off the JCC's popular author series. There's something for everyone this year-- superhero fans, fashionistas, politicos and more!

 

The Man of Steel arrives soon at the JCC of the North Shore! Popular author Larry Tye reveals details about his new biography, Superman, on Thursday, Nov. 1, at 7:00pm. The event kicks-off the J's author series now celebrating its 18th year. Tye's book looks at the cartoonists who created Clark Kent in 1932 and those men and women who have kept him a superhero for generations since. Enjoy wine & hors oeuvres with Tye.

Up next: Boston Globe columnist Meredith Goldstein will dish about her warm and witty debut novel, The Singles, on Tuesday, Nov. 6, at 7:00pm. Goldstein is an advice columnist and entertainment reporter with the Boston Globe. Share a cocktail with her before the program.

Fashionistas will adore our Girls Night Out program featuring Rachelle Bergstein, author of Women From the Ankle Down: The Story of Shoes and How They Define Us. She’ll be joined by vintage clothing expert Jimmy Raye.  It will all be fabulous – the conversation, the fashion, the food and the cocktails! Tuesday, Nov. 13, 6:00pm at Kernwood Country Club.

Editorial cartoonist Dr. George Freedman of Marblehead will present his new book of original editorial cartoons, Drawn From Life, on Sunday, Nov. 18, at 10:00am. The event includes brunch and an exhibit of Dr. Freedman’s favorite works.

Finally, Cantor Matt Axelrod will talk about his  practical, funny and heartwarming guide for families and students getting ready for the big day in Surviving Your Bar/Bat Mitzvah. This event is Wed., Nov. 28, at 7:00pm at Cohen  Hillel Academy.
