Save a Life

Prepare your teens ready for a great job! The JCC is running a Lifeguarding Course on August 27-30 (Monday-Thursday), 9:00am-5:00pm. Teens will be certified in Lifeguarding & First Aid and CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer. You must be 15 years old to take the course. (You must be 16 years old to work as a lifeguard in Massachusetts.) This class fills quickly, so contact Aquatics Director Ashley Vieira today at 781-631-8330, ext 123, or email her at avieira@jccns.com.

Check out our NEW Diving lessons, starting this fall! The Fall Guide is here and packed with exciting programs & classes for everyone in your family. Just a few:

  • Diving: Learn the basics of Springboard Diving in a safe and fun environment. Tuesday & Thursday afternoons. Join our new Swim Team, too… the JCC Sea Serpents!
  • USTA Tennis at the J: We’re teaming up with the USTA to offer specialized tennis lessons for kids ages 10 and under. We have smaller racquets and lower nets, to support beginners. Tennis Pro Bill Busiek offers lessons for adults, too! Contact him at bbusiek@jccns.com or 781-631-8330.
  • Self-Defense: This class is for women and teen girls. Learn how to trust your instincts and protect yourself using many different techniques.
  • Cooking: Eat the Rainbow: Your child will love cooking with every color in the rainbow in this NEW Preschool Enrichment program. Fridays, 1:00pm. We offer lots more PEPS, too, including Fit Kidz, Tae Kwon Do, Sports Rangers and Dance. Open to everyone.
  • 89 FREE Group Ex Classes: All your favorites and NEW classes, too! Be sure to try Naam Yoga, H20 Deep, Rock Bottom Barre/Six Pack Abs and so many more!

  • Hit It, Shoot It, Score It: Kids will love this NEW class featuring all kinds of sports, including lacrosse, floor hockey, t-ball and more! Tuesdays, 4:15pm

Hoop Dreams

Champions are made in the JCC Hoop League! In 5on5 action, team Miami (led by Cpt. Chris Gomez) is the season champion, beating Phoenix, 58-55. In 4on4: BC (with Cpt. Billy Karademos) defeated Illinois 80-62.

Preventing Fall Sports Injuries – Hear From the Experts

It’s almost back-to-school time, and that means lots of kids will be playing fall sports. Learn how you can help your kids prevent injuries in soccer, baseball etc… at the JCC Outdoor Pool on Thursday, August 16, at 2:30pm. Physical therapists from Spaulding will be here to answer all your questions.

End of Summer Pool Party

Be sure to celebrate the last few days of summer at this bash at the Outdoor Pool on Sunday, August 26, 12:00-3:00pm. We’ll have music, dancing, exciting games and activities for kids… you name it! See you there!

Teens Go for the Gold!

We're rooting for our teen athletes competing at the JCC Maccabi Games, a type of Olympics for Jewish teens. The Games are in Rockland, New York, Aug. 12-17.

The athletes include: Mark Cohen, Sam Cohen, Jeff Stern, Joshua Tassinari and Tedd York of Marblehead; Bianca Kostinden and Ariella Salter of Swampscott; Shana Crisctiello of Winchester; Tyler Gilman of Peabody; Phil Levine-Caleb of Waban; Charles Parker, Cam Vicars, Zach Weis and David Salooki of Newton and Joseph Solomont of Brookline. Joining the delegation this year: Charles Thau and Ephraim Zucker of Stamford, CT.
