More than a century ago artists cast their collective gaze on beaches in Swampscott, Nahant and Lynn. Sailboats, dories, fishermen and the sea heaved into view, and the painters strained the impressions through their imaginations and into scenes.

A crew of Swampscott artists still look seaward, and still paint their impressions. You can find some of their work at Kennedy Studios.

2. Musical concerts by the North Shore Philharmonic Orchestra.
