Traffic Island Awards Go to Three Businesses and an Individual
Almost all the town's 30 traffic islands are taken care by volunteers.
At the Nov. 6 Swampscott Board of Selectmen's meeting, the Beautification Committee presented the 1st annual Traffic Island Design Awards.
Presenting the award was one of the missions given to the committee by the Board of selectmen when the committee was established.
Almost all of the 30 traffic islands in town are maintained by volunteers: landscapers, businesses, and individual/neighborhood groups. This award was created to recognize their contribution to the community.
