Thanksgiving Football: A Timeless Tradition

The game's at 10 a.m. in Marblehead at Piper Field.

Today's 10 a.m. kickoff at Piper Field marks the last hurrah of the 2013 high school football season for Swampscott (4-6) and Marblehead (8-2).

Swampscott High had its pep rally scheduled for Wednesday. The cheerleaders made banners for the team.

And, the night before the rally, on Tuesday, the boys put paint brushes to paper in the school cafeteria making banners for the cheerleaders.

It's all part of the tradition and build-up to a world of its own, Thanksgiving high school football.

Be sure to bundle up for the holiday classic. It'll be cold, in the mid-30s, and breezy.

Swampscott Patch will post updates on its Facebook Page and a game summary on the Patch homepage once the game ends.

Our additional coverage will include a gallery of photos from the historic rivalry.

Swampscott won the last Thanksgiving meeting, but Marblehead won the game against the Big Blue earlier this year defeating Swampscott 35-7.

Tickets purchased at the gate on the day of the game will be $10 for everyone.
