Saturday's Holiday Parade Gets Boost From Donation

The holiday parade is Saturday at 6 p.m.

The Swampscott Police Association's Holiday Parade got a boost Thursday, and the members are grateful.

Joseph R. Blood and his family stopped by the Swampscott Police Station and made a very generous donation to the Swampscott Police Association for costs associated with hosting the parade, said SPA President Ted Delano.

The parade starts at 6 p.m.

Participants are asked to call the Swampscott PD so organizers can position your vehicle in the parade. Participants have to be at SHS by 5:30 p.m.

The SPA has again partnered with Toys for Local Children to try to fulfill toy requests from the community. In past years the members have filled a donated UHAUL with toys.

This year they are asking that residents bring a toy to the parade and give it to any police officer volunteering their time for the parade.

They will also be accepting toys for TLC at the Police Station at 531 Humphrey St from now until Christmas.

As in years past, the Association does accept donations to defray the cost of the parade. If you would like to donate to the Swampscott Police Association please mail your donation to the SPA at 531 Humphrey St.,  Swampscott, MA 01907.

If your organization would like to participate in the event please contact Ted Delano, Jim Schultz, Jay Locke or Paul Bartram at 781-595-1111. The parade route starts at Swampscott High, travels from Essex to Vinnin, Vinnin to Salem Street, Salem Street to Humphrey Street, Humphrey Street to Burrill Street, Burrill Street to Essex Street and ending at Swampscott High.
