Indoor Track Off And Running

The first regular meet is Friday at 4 p.m. at Swampscott High against Revere.

The Swampscott indoor track team got a tune-up last weekend at the Pre-Season Relays meet in the Swampscott High School field house.

Boys team coach Jeff Bartlett said the team had a solid first meet.

Some of the Big Blue leaders stepped aside to give younger athletes including freshmen Jack Dennehy and Max Carbone positions in races and events.

The team has 61 members.

The girls team has 35 members. That's fewer than they had last year, said one of the team leaders, Sarah Kelley.

The team lost members to graduation and some senior girls took the season off.

Still, the team has a good mix of ages and athletes including Aisling Dennehy, Isabella Kornitsky, Veronica Rizzo, Lauren Sullivan, Megan Mahoney and Melissa Gavin.

The boys and girls first regular meet is Friday at 4 p.m. at Swampscott High against Revere.
