GoFundMe: Help Dominick Get From Here to There

To our Friends and Neighbors,
It’s such a simple thing, really.

To be able to gather your family and jump into the car to run to a baseball game, do a quick errand or grab a pizza with the kids. It’s something many families take for granted, or even sometimes dread, yet something our family has been dreaming about for 14 years.

Due to birth trauma, our son Dominick requires constant and intensive medical care, which keeps him confined to a wheelchair. He is non-verbal, non-ambulatory and cannot sit, stand, or swallow food. Despite all of this, Dominick has a warm and loving spirit. He is full of innocence and a youthful energy that fills our home with hope and love.

Dominick is included in all of our family activities, but as he gets older it is becoming more difficult for us to transport him. To do even a simple errand, we have to carry both Dominick, who now weighs nearly 100 pounds, and his wheelchair in and out of the mini-van for each trip. Our dream of a handicapped accessible van (approximately $50,000 used, $65,000 new) has been financially out of our reach for years, but both for his safety and quality of life, we have turned to our community for help.
This past spring, we entered a national contest for Mobility Awareness Month to win a handicapped van. Our community supported us with over 20,000 votes, and while we came in towards the top, we did not win. If each person who voted had donated just $2.50, Dominick would have his wheels!

With this thought, we humbly ask our wonderful community to consider helping us once again in whatever amount you can towards the goal of helping to make Dominick readily and safely mobile, improving his quality of life immensely. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated.

Please share our dream, and help make it Dominick’s reality.
Respectfully,
The Pacheco Family
