Blue Girls Flag Team Celebrates Win For the Ages

The game went to two overtime possessions each after Marblehead and Swampscott played to a 14-14 tie during regulation time Saturday in the annual powderpuff game.

A sea of blue streamed onto Blocksidge Field Saturday afternoon after Swampscott's senior girls stopped Marblehead's two-point conversion in the second overtime.

The defensive stop flooded Blocksidge with emotion as fans and players celebrated the overtime victory by the Class of 2014 in the 2013 powderpuff football showdown between the rival schools.

Patch will have a story, photos and video from the game and celebration Sunday and Monday.

For now, here are some photos from the monumental game seen by some 3,000 to 4,000 fans.
