Saint John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott
to hold Walk-a-thon and Outdoor Mass & Parish Picnic September 8 & 9, 2012
Saint John the Evangelist Church, Swampscott will hold its Annual Walk-a-thon on behalf of its sister parish, Saint Catherine’s in d’Arnauld, Haiti on Saturday, September 8, 2012. The day begins with Saturday morning’s 8:30am Mass which includes prayers for walkers, volunteers, sponsors and the people of Haiti. Immediately following Mass the walk will proceed along Humphrey Street and Lynn Shore Drive to the Nahant Rotary and back. Walkers will then turn in their pledge sheets and enjoy refreshments.

The Walk’s lead sponsor is Saint John’s Conference of the Saint Vincent de Paul Society. Assisted by others including many parish and community families they hope to repeat last year’s total of $6,000.00. Saint Catherine’s operates the only school in d’Arnauld and enrolls children of all faiths.

On Sunday, September 9 Saint John’s Parking Lot will be the site of the Annual Outdoor Mass and Parish Picnic. Mass will be celebrated under a tent overlooking the Sea at 11am. A cookout will take place immediately following the Mass.
