The North Shore Dance Alliance in Concert

The North Shore Dance Alliance in Concert to Feature Nahant-based Forty Steps Dance

The North Shore Dance Alliance, an organization dedicated to supporting and encouraging a wide range of dance on the greater North Shore area, has announced a dance collaborative featuring works by a variety of North Shore dance companies. The concert will take place at the Marblehead Little Theatre in Marblehead, MA, November 16 at 8 p.m. and November 17 at 3 p.m. Tickets, which are $20 and $15 for students and seniors, can be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/490435.

Presenting companies and works include:

• North Shore Civic Ballet, Marblehead, MA – Performing “Ramo Verde,” choreographed by Ivan Korn and performed by Shauna Whalen - a choreographic dance solo based on the metaphor of spreading your wings. They will also be performing a piece “There There” - a dance duet choreographed by Ivan Korn and performed by Ivan Korn and Shauna Whalen, which explores - through sharp movement in unison - the urge to arrive at an end.

• Exit Dance Theatre, Newburyport, MA – Performing a duet entitled “Trapped” about being stuck in a confined space with someone, and an African drum piece choreographed by Greg Coles.

Forty Steps Dance, Nahant, MA – Performing three excerpts from a larger work-in-progress called "Creatures," which is inspired by the many different living creatures we have and their unique ways of moving. The challenge is to find the essence of these creatures’ movements and to interpret them using our human bodies to create creature images.

Hyperbole Dance, Marblehead, MA – Performing three pieces entitled “The Unignorable Question,” “Annie Ever After” and “Bumps in the Night” – all choreographed by Nikki Sell.

Deadfall Dance, Andover, MA – Performing a solo entitled “Life Unlived,” danced by Tabitha Liversidge and choreographed by Judith Wombwell

• Two short films by Jeremiah Story of Merrimac, MA and one by Gordon Przbyla entitled “Places We Don’t Dance but We Should.”

“We’re very excited to bring this dance collaborative to Marblehead,” said Paula K. Shiff, Director of the Marblehead School of Ballet and Artistic Director of North Shore Civic Ballet. “The North Shore Dance Alliance represents a wonderful and diverse blend of talent. We’re thrilled to feature that talent on one of our local stages.”
