The Ten Commandments: Deeper Meanings
Light Brunch: 10:00-10:30
Presentation: 10:30-1pm

Cost: $10pp
Rabbi Fleer will be speaking at Congregation Ahabat Sholom about “The Ten Commandments: Deeper Meanings.”  While everyone knows that the Ten Commandments are important in Judaism, and that they have inspired Western Civilization as a whole, how many of us have had an opportunity to learn about them in depth based on the teachings of our Sages? This presentation is a thorough exploration of the Ten Commandments, including: What are the various ways of understanding the commandments? What is the reason for their order? How are they interconnected, and more.

Rabbi Gedaliah Fleer is a visiting scholar from Jerusalem, on his 28th annual teaching tour in the Boston area.  Rabbi Fleer combines extensive Torah knowledge with penetrating insight and an energetic teaching style to create an inspirational experience for his students.   He has a rare gift for making complex ideas clear and accessible, and is a master storyteller.  Rabbi Fleer’s illuminating and provocative classes help students of all levels access their own spirituality by bringing mystical concepts down to earth. Encyclopedia Judaica recognizes Rabbi Gedaliah Fleer as one of today’s leading authorities on Jewish Mysticism and the teachings of the Chassidic Master, Rebbe Nachman of Breslov.  Originally from New York, Rabbi Fleer studied at the Navordoc Yeshiva, the Mirer Yeshiva, and Yeshiva Torah V’Daat, and received his rabbinic ordination at the Yeshivat Chasidei Breslov in Jerusalem.  Rabbi Fleer was the first person from the West to travel to the former Soviet Union to visit the grave of Rebbe Nachman, a pilgrimage now made by thousands every year at Rosh Hashanah.  He is the author of two books on Rebbe Nachman and several articles.  Rabbi Fleer teaches and counsels in Jerusalem.
