Food Day Event in Lynn this Thursday!

Local Food Service Company Helps Residents Get Real With Food

Sidekim Foods hosts a free community event for locals to learn about and celebrate healthy, affordable, and sustainable food

Lynn, MA- Teaching young people to cook is emphasized on the third annual Food Day, a national celebration and movement towards a more sustainable, healthy, and affordable way of eating. On Thursday October 24th, Sidekim Foods will host a free Food Day event including food demonstrations and samplings with a special focus on teaching children how to cook. Children will be able to bring out their inner chef, get their hands dirty, and get familiar with different fresh ingredients, all by helping prepare a healthful meal.

From pre-school to seniors, Sidekim Foods prepares nutritious meals daily using the freshest local ingredients including whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats.  Sidekim Foods aims to spread awareness about their real food philosophy to the community by educating children. This experience can be the first of many to lead children and their families towards a lifetime of healthy eating with hands on activities.

Donations are welcomed and will go directly to The Food Project, which brings together teenagers from across eastern Massachusetts to grow and distribute fresh healthy food for our communities, and to raise awareness about the problems and inequality of our food system. “We are thrilled to be working with Sidekim Foods to celebrate Food Day,” says James Harrison, North Shore Regional Director at the Food Project.

Sidekim’s philosophy is also based on sourcing locally produced ingredients, in order to support sustainable agriculture and small businesses in the community.
