Community Corner

Immigration Rights Forum at UUCGL

On January 27th from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, the Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn will be sponsoring a Winter Forum on “Immigration Rights in Massachusetts.”

The Forum is facilitated by the Executive Director of the Unitarian Universalist Mass Action (UU Mass Action), Jesse Jaeger. Three presenters from the immigration rights community will share their experiences: Jose Palma, organizer for Centro Presente, Katherine Ascuncion, from the Student Immigrant Movement and Lena Graber, with the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild.

“We will hear stories of families caught up in Immigration Custom and Enforcement's (ICE) inhumane detention and deportation program. We will hear about the proposed Massachusetts Trust Act that will get local law enforcement out of having to do ICE's work for them. We will also hear about recent victories for great immigration reform,” said Jesse Jaeger, Forum facilitator.
